  1. A lovely Soulful ballad is by Billy Preston (has performed with the Beatles) & Syreeta Wright (Stevie Wonders ex); the song is ‘With you I’m born again. Their vocals together are amazing.

  2. Saw Lionel perform at the LA Olympics closing ceremony. Flawless live, as I expected. If I hadn't paid so much for the stupid tickets I woulda liked it more 😹

  3. Amazing the songs I wouldn't be caught dead listening to when I was in my teens that I just love now, this is one of them for sure.

  4. Phil Collins "I Don't Care Anymore" is a banger of a break up song! Lyrically and sonically, it's the exact song ya need after a break up. It's from his 1982 solo album "Hello, I Must Be Going" (great album!).

  5. There are countless Commodores hits that the masses will suggest.
I prefer the older catalog.. Slippery When It's Wet, I Feel Sanctified, Gimme My Mule, Look Whatcha Done To Me, Mary Mary, Fancy Dancer and the epic You Don't Know That I Know.

  6. During this time, my boyfriend was from a somewhat aristocratic French family and came to Dallas to intern where I worked. When he left, he sent me a cassette tape saying he was sorry but he had to marry a French woman or his father would disown him. I recorded this song over his message and sent it right back to him. He did stay in touch with me over the years and even sent me a picture of his first born child.

  7. Really enjoying your foray into the soulful side. When you get back to heavier music you should check out Black Country Communion. The song BCC is a great starting point. Joe Bonamassa, Glenn Hughes( backing vocals on Deep Purple Burn which you covered years ago), Derek Sherinian from Dream Theatre and Jason Bonham son of Zeppelins John Bonham. How can you go wrong

  8. Ok guys, you picked a great one! I have 4 more contenders…Sad one by Genesis called Open Door,and/ or scream in your face Genesis song called,I Don't Care Anymore! Sad Rod Stewart song called,Say It Ain't True, and the saddest ,most heartfelt song by the incomparable Chris Stapleton called,Either Way…😭💔🎙🎶

  9. As you, Alex instanced, the structure of this song is just so self-assured – it saves the hookiest bit until last, but musically hints that it's coming up almost all the way through. So, that when it does get to it, there is such a great sense of fulfillment. It's a masterpiece of song writing and the musicality touches right through and the absolutely superb production it make it one of my top 3 songs of the 1970s.

  10. Yes sir, you "better know" Mr. Lionel Richey – Major Icon. No down time with him. When I heard he left The Commodores and heard his solo stuff, I realized – oh, he "was" the sound of The Commodores. Like 90% was L.R. (I love The Commodores too, now – but c'mon, you gotta admit, he was the main attraction." Beautiful, exquite music and touching stories. This one in particular was so tragic bc the person hurt was so in love and really tried, but there comes a time when you have to say good-bye and let that other person "sail on." He told her (via the divorce) I'm giving you back your name. Guess she was bound to ramble. Thx guys, I waited a few years for y'all to play this one.

  11. What strikes me about this song is just how patient the Commodores were in unfolding everything it has to offer, revealing a serious level of musical confidence and sophistication.

  12. I always liked this song…never was on my top 100 chart but was just one of those songs I loved listening to and singing to…its simple but just an easy catchy tune to listen to
