1. I watch a few sailing videos, bit biased because at the moment James is in NZ which I visited for the first time last November, but I do enjoy his videos the most. Very relaxing after a stressful day 😮

  2. As a kiwi delivery skipper we get mostly SW to NW , a bit of NE a little SE & some good southerlies so the chance of a lee shore is more likely coming down the west coast & all harbours except New Plymouth are bar harbours , Not good in any westerly winds . On the east coast you have plenty of safe areas to stop or shelter , The biggy is from Napier to Wgtn.or Picton if you get the weather right but even there 'Waiarapa' coast in 50+ off the shore you can stay in close so no big seas a bit hairy for the uninitiated but easily doable , Just watch for cray pots in close .

  3. Been watching from the very 1st video when you were towing her! Happy to Sea you are living the dream James. Thanks for the advice a few years back! Fair winds my friend.

  4. Hey james ya dont wear out yourself going the other way I'd go the other way to it sounds much better

  5. Always have a Plan C. The big brain move here is to make Plan C the place you actually want to go to so you always end up at the desired destination…

  6. Great job as always love the content. I liveaboard a 40ftsailboat and own another 27ft and I never miss an episode Windy Hippie Sam Holmes and you are really getting it out there being safe making miles… Good luck out there!!!

  7. Man, that was some Really rough water you were in there ! You sure woke up in a pretty place though.I was noticing the thing which looks to hold the rudder seemed to unhook at one point. I like your help solutions – "Im gonna drink more coffee". Thanks so much.

  8. As a viewer, I love the sporty sailing.
That hard dodger playing hero of the episode.
The dodger may have not wanted to go down the stairs in LA, but its in its true element today.

  9. I miss watching you on IG. Someone complained about my account and they shut down my account after 13 years 😢 At least I get to watch you here.

  10. Hey man! I love your videos and am enjoying your videos of Aotearoa , there's just one thing that is bugging me.
It's the way you pronounce Aotearoa. The A and the O are not pronounced separately, they are combined . It's sounds more like owwtearoa.
I give you big ups for trying. The Maori language is a hard one to sound out .
Hope to see you exploring more of New Zealand soon! Happy sailing.

  11. I think your engine alarm was going off while motorsailing because the boat was heeling too much for the raw water inlet to keep a constant flow. Ours is on the port side of our keel and when we heel to starboard, the alarm chirps intermittently. Love the videos!

  12. It would be nice to see you mark in your planned route with stops for the episode. You orally described it at the beginning of this episode but I’m a visual learner. 😂. Noraly on her Itchy Boots channel does a great job with this.

  13. I always like to watch your footages. They are very instructives. Probably, a more frequent use of maps when you edit the video would help to better understand. Fair winds Sailor James.

  14. 😂 me and my dad and brother were out there in 89. During a hurricane. 180k winds. Just a storm gib up.. was crazy… 26 foot Gazelle trailer sailer…

  15. I admire your bravery. Not a lot of people can do what you do. New watching your videos and Im in love with your content. Be careful out there! Trust your judgement sir
