#vg2024 #imoca #vendeeglobe

Nico looking good, and thank you so much with rainy and windy good morning greetings from Germany. Really enjoy your to the point briefings. Wishing you a really good day.
Slightly desappointing speed for Jean Le Cam last night, would have hoped for 2 knots more in average in those conditions! Preserving the boat certainly… Wise man!
Thanks 😊good 👏
Great information and right update. Slick channel well done Sail World, you're now my go to for Vendee Globe updates
Morning from very frosty Scotland! A question why is Kevin Escoffier not in the race? Go go PRB!
These updates are excellent Mark. Nico is so cool.
And everyone said the West would be better, guess it’s not over yet, but certainly looks to have been the correct choice for Le Cam’s non foiler. HOME
Great briefing, to the point and full of all the latest information needed. As a Brit it's great to see Sam, Samantha and Pip going well.
Well done Sail World for making such great concise updates, it would be great to have a weekly round up as well.
CAn someone please explain why there are forbidden areas en route? Thanks
I only discovered this English-speaking channel a few days ago. Great!!! Thank you for the news and updates. It's very interesting with these strange weather conditions and the corresponding routing of the sailors. I am of course a fan of Boris and Nico. 😏 Many greetings from Germany
That jib sheeting arrangement on HOLCIM/PRB is unbelievable!
Love your updates.
Sail the Atlantic Once great exterpereince, but I wonder if I could do this eating crap food sailing alone NFW you really have to admire these guys, and good luck to you all

If Jean seems in good position to win his gamble inside the daggerboard fleet (we will ignore foilers that run quite differently), it seems to be more complicated for Conrad.
There is a reason. Jean runs a brand new daggerboard design from David Raison introducing scow bow like design.
The past days have shown that this unit has an important speed advantage on all others daggerboard
This was one of the question. Would David Raison be able to reinvent classic design IMOCA to make a breakthrough in performance ?
Driven by an experienced racer, the answer seems to be yes, this boat is a rocket, we see Conrad unable to match race this boat.
The conclusion is that there was in fact only one daggerboard able to gamble and win the eastern option, the boat of Jean (but also Eric belion who runs a sistership, but Eric is not in same calss ojf navigator, he is more an adventurer). For Conrad we will see later, but even if he wins, this will be a little;
So this explains why no other daggerbpards chose the eastern option, siimply because now with routing software, you enter the specifications of your machine, its speed limit, and you can check each options, and for an older daggerbord with a lower speed routting prediction showed probably this was a risky option.
It was known since long time that under "cap verde" it would be required to go back to the west due to front wind on the eastern,
We must also remind the context. Jean did not make a wonderfull start, and it seems that his boat perform awfully in very light conditions, so he had a serious gap with the head of the flieet, so this was the right moment to gamble. But contrary to Conrad, Jean with a faster boat had a "securiy'" margin to win..
