1. How cool is this? The “ Sailors Knife” is collaboration between Boker and History Knife & Tool. To my knowledge, it’s a historically accurate depiction of traditional sailors knives that were used on merchant ships all over the world and within naval rinks. The German Navy still carries these knives today with minimal variations.

The Sailor Knife also bears a striking resemblance to the famous Kephart Knife designed by Horace Kephart, consider as one of the godfathers of modern day Bushcraft .

The Sailor Knife recently became available at Böker for $62. Any day I get to add a historical type knife to my collection is a good day.

  2. I have a German RZ M7/36 knife! It's a youth knife with symbology depicted that often makes people angry or uncomfortable. However, it's history and should be treated as such. Still trying to find an original scabbard for it. No luck to this point.

  3. Geez. All we got issued was a Camillus folding camp knife with US stamped on it. A lot of us bought our own knives and that first Gerber multitool. We weren't saving anyone from being taken overboard by a running line with those Camillus.

  4. I'm beginning to think that Kephart and Nessmuk never actually "created or designed" their own knives. They just used what was already available. There are knife makers who have been making those same patterns since the beginning

  5. 1) its a lanyard, not a dumny cord, hence the lanyard hole
    2) its a sheepfoot point not a bulbous whatever, though thats a touch more pointed than most.

  6. I love the concept, but I did not like the product. My one came with bunch of defects, which is something that I never expected from Böker. Non symmetrical grind of both the blade and handle. Non symmetrical grind of the edge as well. I almost felt like I was sold a scam knife, but I bought my one from the original shop page of Böker in Amazon in Germany, so I presume that in this case was just bad quality control. Plus it came with proper Böker wrapping and stuff. Quick return was the only option, despite the good otherwise price or this blade. Some time will need to pass, for me to decide whether I am going to order it again or will look for another brand who make this type of blades.
