Great stuff Sam. Loved this season. I live in Amsterdam and I am looking at a Leisure 27. My kids and I have been renting boats and sailing on the Ijsselmeer since the pandemic. Time to get our own. I have a little project in mind too, to recreate the Riddle of the Sands trip. Your season is a great preview of parts of that.

Great video. just a hint: green light is not for sport boats, white flashing light is the signal for sailboats that you can enter the lock.

I've done this trip in both directions and this matches my experience. Particularly the tide in the entrance to Cuxhaven.
Great episode!! Interestingly, after almost 30+ years my mechanic who serviced the Yanmar 30hp every year, finally persuaded me to remove the external grille on the outside of the hull. He reckoned that they were more trouble than they were worth and that the internal strainer was able to do the job perfectly well. It also meant that any external obstruction – like a plastic bag etc., – was more easily dealt with without the grille in place!! I must admit that, for the remaining six years until I swallowed the anchor, I had no issues of any sort, so I suppose Peter was right!!! Just a thought!!

That and when you do shot of Stowaway moored up after a passage and she always spotlessly clean..

Very nice Video (again!) and i enjoyed that you took us with you. Based at Marina Makkum (with a SY Jouet 33 of 1978) with my family and Marina "De Rakken" (with an old english sailing vessel "Halcyon 23" from the early 70ies) for my one-handed trips we are used to sail to the frisian islands very often during the summertimes and: Vlieland ist very nice to visit indeed! Wishing you fair winds for future sailing trips wherever you go…

An extra container would solve your fuel stress… recommend a rubber hose for blowing through the raw water inlet (usually plastic blocking it)

How long did it take you from cuxhaven to Vlieland? Did you sleep at all?
Did almost the same route (Helgoland – Vlieland , slept in 20min intervals during the night.
