Great series of videos on your crossing. I'd be very disappointed with my sailmaker for designing a sail with that tack set-up. It should be a ring with reinforcement – I've never had a main sail with just a material loop as my tack. It's going to fail again.
Actually that is only a lost fishing buoy.. a whale and cetacean deste for hydro acoustic as a complete different form.. also all painted yellow.. and has solar panels for power, (that one no electronics for power), typical they have AIS emission as well for identification for danger identification
So that's how you use that tool.
The reinforcement webbing should be run up the sail, and sewn with successive box stitches, that wont hold.

It made no difference that you didn't check it a day earlier the repair was still due either way. In fact you most likely have had to cut it to do the work and then you would feel bad about it.

You should be replacing that shackle with a 90° twisted one so the eye would be in a more natural position and less prone to chafing.

for your winches i have seen some crews have a Power drill with an attachment to drive the winch. Just a thought
