În 2020, am zburat să întâlnesc un petrolier în San Francisco. Am petrecut 100 de zile navigând în sus și în jos pe coasta de vest, ocazional îndreptându-se spre Alaska #SIU #merchantmarine #lifeatsea

Do hammocks not work anymore ?
Just came across your channel. Love being able to follow along vicariously on your travels.
Man I love learning new stuff ! The Tanker-stache – who knew ? Thanks for a great channel and a great video !
Portland???? You obviously don't serve on the bridge. Eight hours of straight blind pilotage down the Columbia breaks watch officers.
Crazy seas up in Alaska! Worked on a 1000ft tanker "Overseas Boston" in the 90's. 60ft seas off the coast Canada on the way up to Valdez. Thank goodness it was a big ship, could have been real ugly
Pretty neat. How much does that job pay?
It´s like a poltergeist, lots of moving items…I got seasick just watching…
Great editing with the sock scene! LOL
I was a steersman for a wind tower project out of Portland OR to Saskatchewan at the same time you did that run. A crazy experience.
👍👍👍
Great videos! The rocking and rolling brings back (not) good memories from my time serving as an officer on a US Navy destroyer in the Atlantic. If the seas were tossing your huge tanker around, they must have been huge! One question – do you only serve on Jones Act US flagged vessels, or have you ever worked on a foreign flag or non-Jones Act ship?
Wow you left out the line handlers that tie up the ship
i seen this ship all the time in alaska
I got seasick just watching this video.
Description of rolls as you slide in your room, well depicted!
Thanks!
Why does the Pilot arrive by helicopter, secondly why do Pilots not use the gangway…does it move too much? Thanks for info.
Could you stay on one ship for more than one tour? Ie keep on doing the West coast run?
I am a casual fan of your channel. I have watched your videos and find them very interesting, somewhat tranquil distraction at the end of the day. I worked close to SIU in Piney Point, MD while I worked up the street as an engineer at NAWCADPAX from 1996 to 2017. Did you ever go up to the Tiki Bar in Solomons while you were there?
I viewed your latest offering today for the bulk carrier from Portugal, think that is a great idea of doing weekly releases, gives you more to do on board.
Looking forward to your upcoming videos? Maybe try a LNG tanker, or I saw there was one that operates out of Brazil for Orange Juice!
As the Navy sailors say Joe Franta may you have "Fair Winds and Following Seas"
Cant you sleep in slings so u go with the flow
awesome man
How have I just now found you? Love your videos, these are great
I’m resting through open heart surgery in the hospital now. Your videos have been great.
Dude, your videos are so great. Thank you!
How much schooling do you need to sign up for a typical few month voyage on a cargo ship?
i've heard of getting your sea legs on, but your sea socks? come on
My father my grandfather and my uncle together with most of my male cousins here in the Philippines are sea fearers.
A salute to all seamen!
Yeah, the channel is really cool. Love everything about it. Keep doin ya thang Joe!
You do have a knack for these. Voice, editing Etc. I just found you. I felt same way about trucks. God gave me every great job I applied for.retired now but miss it every day.
Darling, I absolutely love your channel ❤️. 😊 from Scotland xx
Amazing film very interesting
Tanker stache :O)
Your videos brings back fond memories, from my days in the Danish mechant navy.
Thank's for sherint them.
I'm 48 how do I get a job like that or can I?
I noticed you did not mention what your cargoes were. In other videos, you do mention the cargo. Was the information restricted in this case?
Very well done… thx.
I really enjoy the channel.
The tanker stache closely resembles a firefighter stache for the exact same reasons. Gotta get that mask seal.
I've loved watching all the videos, Joe. Could you do a video about the gear you use?
Great song !
Sweet tunes
I remember rolling like that and I always thought it would have been a good idea to have a hammock like they did on the old warships before I got in the Navy. Alaska and the Aleutians. Magnificent desolation
I'd string a hammock to help with the rolling
I could never work on a tanker.
Not because I don't think I could do the job, I just can't grow a 'stache to save my life
