Could someone educate me about how this works with who owns the right to salvage? Doesn't the boat owner own his own boat even if rescued at sea? I trust there is a fee for towing but I'm not following the "owning the salvage" stuff. I'm not a pro boater. Just someone interested in this topic. Thank you.
Who earned it? The guy who didn’t run into the other boat, started pumping water out like 1 minute after he arrived and dove into the water to check it out. Why is there any question?

Now I'm no expert but I believe that the Itowboats if he was the one that wound up with it was the correct choice. My reasoning is that the boat was not abandoned so it wouldn't be a salvage and you have the right to choose anyone you want to tow your boat.
The red boat was there 1st, but didn't do squat (other than ram the boat). The green one started the process of water removal to save the boat (& passengers by stopping the boat from full sinking), he also dove under the boat to check the problem. While "showing up is half the battle", you have to participate to win! The green boat gets paid.
How about they tow the boat to shore and the owner gets to keep and fix his boat.
Women and children board the lifeboats first, so the men can find a solution in silence.
tow boats usa got there first but the other towboat initiated operations to save the boat while towboats just stood around.. itow obviously had the rights

We always had pumps and hoses on board. Gas and electric. If you lose gensets. You can run off batteries.
All that tie they could’ve had it towed to calm waters and ties off to dock and let the pumps do the job. Crazy ppl
First on scene. But they all will charge for going out there. Owning a boat is a waste of money.

I know tow trucks are first one on scene gets it unless its called by police then you got to be next up on rotation of different companies tow companies.

Itowboats should get the business. Towboats showed up and didn't do anything to help keep the boat from sinking. He rams into it and then just ties off on it. The first thing Itowboats did was pass a hose over and start pumping water out of the sinking boat. Towboats was totally useless. He was just trying to get there first so his company would get the job.
