Maiden Voyage & NOI AM RUPT BOOM-UL!!! Ep 312

1. As gorgeous as Bonita is and deserves all the attention Tallula is stealing this show. Sorry Yosh just keep the camera focused on these two young ladies and you will do fine lol.

  2. Beautiful vessel looks outstanding and is really performing great for you guys. Very nice seeing you all so happy with Nandji 2.0🎉

  3. Nandj 2 is a fabulous looking vessel. Thankfully she's good in the light winds. Hope you get all the little fixes done and hope the boom isn't worse than your 1st thought.

  4. So wonderful too see Nandji 2 starting out being a rippa ! That is too bad the Vang rivits have all failed , the idea of using RivNuts is good , but I wonder how galvanic corrosion would be a problem latter on, the nits themselves being steel. Replacing with larger alum pop rivits may be the best option. Tallula is So Amazingly cute and starting to talk so much. Give her a few more months and she will never give you time to say your piece, LOL . CHEERS AND FAIR WINDS Steve h.

  5. Loose the ridgid vang (easy to put too much on and break your boom) and go with 2 4 to 1 tackles from a strop on the boom to the aft lowers with the working ends led back to the cockpit. Good gybe prevention. With the traveler and where your main sheet is on the boom, you'll be laughing.

  6. I think the rivets are simply holding the bang fitting in place. The lumps of metal in the track might be corroded lugs from the base. The metal looks like cast Aluminum which is very susceptible to corrosion.

  7. More important than how the boat sails in light winds is how she performs in strong winds! I raced on board a 15 ton 50 foot sloop for 30,000 miles and my best memories of how she performed were, beating into a force 9 doing 9 knots with only a small no.4 storm jib up, no main sail and the fastest was running on a broad reach in another force 8 storm with full main and no. 3 jib doing 16 knots with a rooster tail chasing us and that was a boat with a 3 spreader rig with 7 tons of lead in a 9’ fin keel! If I had your boat I would make your inner jib or staysail a self tacker on a boom and then you would have a very capable and easy boat to sail strongly to windward if the need ever arose such as having to do rapid effortless tacks in a confined seaway/channel or indeed to easily escape a dangerous Lee shore. Ye have a very powerful and capable long distance comfortable sailboat which will be so safe for your growing family in the knarley weather and sea conditions that ye will most likely experience on future adventures. As they say to kids(in Kerry) getting a new pair of shoes(or especially in the past when kids went barefoot until their teens) for the first time, “Well wear” wishing a long life for the sole leather. Well wear, happy days and fair sailing to all who sail on your new ship! SkipRay, Kenmare bay, Kerry, Ireland.
