Greatcircle este gata să plece din nou și ne bucurăm să părăsim portul de agrement și să ne îndreptăm spre lagună. Avem câteva zile grozave de navigație. Mai întâi la una dintre insulele mici din mijlocul recifelor (Ilot Mato) și apoi prin Prony până la Ile des Pins.

You are very wise to be cautious navigating in shallow areas out here , check when the soundings were taken ! Quite often it is from surveys done long ago
Many years ago as chief officer I went up to the bridge to take over from the second officer to find him and the captain looking rather worried , we were running at 15 knots in a 40 metre deep area with a draft of 12 metres when the echosounder alarm went off, it settled at 1.5 metres below the keel ! . The area is marked as shallow water reported !

This is great. Did this in a motorboat many years ago, but sailing would be so satisfying.I remember seeing sea turtles and diving in clear water. Thanks for the memories.

at 14:14, your chart plotter looks like the sonar is mapping the seafloor. Is there a way to export and/or share these data? I'm pretty sure the guys over at OpenSeaMap would be very happy…
