5. This cutting ships in 2 goes back a century. Check out the story of the HMS Zubian, made from half of HMS Zulu and the other half of HMS Zubian in 1916. From wiki:

   HMS Zubian was a First World War Royal Navy Tribal-class destroyer constructed from the forward end of HMS Zulu and the rear and mid sections of HMS Nubian. These two destroyers had been badly damaged in late 1916, and rather than scrapping both hulls at the height of World War I, the Admiralty ordered that they be rebuilt as the composite Zubian and put back into service. She was commissioned into the fleet in June 1917. The name Zubian is a portmanteau of the names of the original ships.

8. I wouldn't be worried about the ship being 'cut in half' but if I was buying it I would have a whole lot of questions for the engineers that messed it up from the start. If they can mess it up that bad on the overall engineering from the start I would probably not trust their fixes.

30. that cracks me up that people are worried about a ship that's "cut in half" – imagine if they knew what it looked like before it was turned into a boat the first time. Welding creates a single piece of metal at the molecular level.

31. Steel plates welded together don't care if you cut it in half and weld more steel in the middle, in the NAVY they dod it to a submarine, cruise ships too.
