5. SO. How come the other vessel did not do something? Like zigzags or some such move to challenge the orcas. Did nothing. Guess capturing the incident on video was more important. The sunk vessel could have done something more. At least tie a line to a winch handle and throw it. Or clobber them with a spin pole. I may go down but I promise you one or more orcas would be hurting afterwards.

9. For all practical purposes it's an attack. The Orcas intentions matter very little when this is the result. The environmentalists always downplay the seriousness of this situation. One day somebody might get killed. This is no joke.

16. I’m requesting some assistance and direction to get back on a boat as a chef and a deck end to transfer boats in Northern America down to Florida or further south the Caribbean for the winter. I’m a train chef musician and I have a number of years on and off boats from Alaska to California to Florida and the Caribbean. I’ve also spent 20 years indoor county on different size boats on Lake Michigan and the Great Lakes. How do I get assistance? I’ve tried to work 123 and find a crew and other sites but it is challenging still. Please advise if possible. Thank you much and safe passage to everyone.

17. The Orca brain is basically preprogrammed to disable and sink things. That is their main predatory behavior when hunting and eating. To say that the orcas are "just playing", is ridiculous. Ships have navigated that area for centuries; for thousands of years! New behaviors are loud and demand intelligent solutions.

18. I enjoy this video. Thank you for the information. An odd place to request, but I am looking for assistance and direction. I’m looking to get back onto boat at this time for transfer from North America down to Florida perhaps the Caribbean for this fall winter. I’m a train chef and I’m willing to travel with using five years of boat experience from Alaska to Southern California to Florida the Caribbean and indoor county on the Great Lakes. Please help me find a way to get back in this system. I’ve looked up day work 123 as well as find a crew and it is still challenging. I’m competitive. I’m not looking for a bravo network TV yacht. I’m looking for something where I can live and enjoy my life work as a chef and or deckhandtravel only a good income support my children myself and help my client enjoy their life on their yacht. 20. If vessels can carry flare guns, why can’t they carry flash-bang grenades used by law enforcement? They would certainly dissuade even the most mischievous of the Orcas.

27. Seems to me a device that produced something offensive to the whales should be made available, hopefully causing the whales to leave the area. ie. very loud and sharp acoustic wave? M80/Cherrybomb firecracker?

28. I've said it before that that pod needs exterminating. They are a threat to human life and will continue to train their offspring to attack boats. Does someone have to die before action is taken.

29. They learn the behavior from other orcas. No one is sure why they have found this, ramming keels, to be 'fun'.

39. The answer seems quite simple. Boats should detour around the area where the orcas are located. They obviously take exception to the boats passing through their home waters. If you know that boats are being damaged and you still decide to go through there, it seems like you're asking for trouble.

41. It might be a good idea to carry sum explosive device to cause discomfort to them to move them away. Don't for get they are meat eating mamals, and they live up to their name killer whales, it won't take long for them to realise, it is meals ina package.

44. These stupid fools in boats the same size as these whales intentionally getting into those whales space for photo opportunities and social media clout are getting the Marine version of FAFO and I’m all here for it.. fools

The issue is the boaters might have done something to piss off the orcas, but they might not realize what they have done….the orcas could have been feeding etc and they, unknowingly, got in the way. The other thought is if they are juveniles they could have been playing with a “new toy” and having fun obviously the humans don’t think it’s fun. I would be interested in getting a marine biologists take on the incident. 🤔
