O parte a călătoriei va fi reluarea călătoriilor pe mare ale fratelui mai mare al lui Rob, Kerry. I've noticed the frequent use of the word "legends" by people from Australia and New Zealand. Referring to the kids that swam out to the boat as legends? Please don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing. It's interesting that legend has a different meaning in the United States. I wonder if legend (Australia and New Zealand) has always had a different meaning or if this is something new? 🤔 Thank you for sharing your adventures.
Ah man…. What a trip. Thankfully things have moved on a bit from your brother's end. Just a bit. What an outrage back then. But us westerners blithely thinking that we could wear our innocence through the turmoil that was South east Asia back then. Folks aint necessarily folks, if ya take my meaning. Lotsa luck in foreign parts you Kiwis. I think it's reasonably safe these days, but take care.
I feel for Rob because this must be very difficult for him and the rest of the family with all the memories it will bring back. Hopefully you will all get some kind of closure and peace from this trip. It was great to see the boys interacting with the local kids but it is in their nature to do that. I love seeing all the different cultures and the way other people live, it is so interesting. Keep making the videos because they are certainly the highlight of my week and I am sure for the others who watch them. Sad story…
That was an atrocious time in Cambodian history. It was such bad luck that Kerry and friends crossed paths with these barbarians. I was in Siem Reap and saw the remnants of horror these people went through. They as a whole are kind, generous happy souls. Much like most suffering from the actions of power-hungry people. The pain continues.
Wow I remember that happening way back when😢. Back in 2005 I went to Cambodia, Siem Reap, Phnom Penh & Sihanoukville. Absolutely loved the Cambodian people they left me with a deep & sincere appreciation of how to put it down all that extremely horrific experiences at the hands of Pol Pot & the Khmer Rouge, absolutely insane. Australia were the 1st country outside of the States to win the America's cup, then New Zeland helped ruin and transform it into such a unrecognisable debacle it has morphed into today.
Great episode, loved that the boys got on great with the other kids. Nice that you encourage the boy's to learn a bit of the lingo, I bet it helps greatly. Have to say Rob a better man than I am, I would not go there, I would hold a gruge that would not be fair to the innocent people there.

I will continue to follow you with keen interest as you retrace your brothers voyage …. Ps I have been to Cambodia multiple times since the peace accords for my work and have visited Tuol Sleng … a horrid ghoulish place …. Me heart goes to you and your family whose history is forever tied to the Cambodian people …

Can't even imagine going through this. Growing up in the 70's hearing about the atrocities in Cambodia, I didn't know what to do. As an adult, I joined the Royal Navy, because for the most part they have a good humanitarian background. Now retired I want to do more in that field. Much respect to you Rob, hope to meet you on the high seas and share a beer or 2 with you.
