Are you sure that the chamfer on the nut does not face up? Flat side of nut should be against the bearing.

12 degrees C is 53.6 degrees F and 13 C is 55.4 F. Too cold for Lee and you three fish people for health reasons. Sweden does polar dipping from infancy but most other countries don't. l love your sailing adventures but being retired can only like and subscribe.

With Bearings like that if there is a 2RS version of it (2 Rubber Seals) you should go for that. I was amazed when i pulled my anchor winch apart there were no Rubber seals in a gearbox that was guaranteed to eventually have water ingress, particularly as the ver first bearing after the main outer seal had no seals at all. That meant that the anchor winch gearbox was relying on just one seal to keep salt water out. But then no doubt you knew all of that, so this is for others.
