  1. I did the same thing in Norway almost a year ago, bought an old sailboat with a crappy engine and am still living on it. It will be rough on you sometimes but it will also be totally awesome. I love it and it has helped me with my depression greatly.
Reach out to other sailors or liveaboards near you. I bet they will be more than happy to help and can give you great advice on everything related to boats and point you to cheaper parts and such.

  2. I have just done the same thing, sold everything I had to sell, given up work and bought a boat. Mine is 54 years old and needs some work which is all doable I hope. Im still waiting for the job that I havent spotted yet that will cost thousands which I don't have and I end up with a boat that I cant fix, cant sail and cant sell, but Im keeping on going and so must you.. I think you should have taken a little more time sorting her out before attempting any journey but kudos for your effort. Most marine diesels are pretty basic, you wont have done any damage to the lump itself, its the electrics that you need to get sorted. Alternator, starter motor, solenoids will all be ruined and need replacing, rest of it should be good to go with the oil changes you have done. Dont give up, it will make it seem so much better once you have it sorted.

  3. Well if it starts sometimes perhaps not much wrong with the engine , perhaps dirty old fuel , water in the tank perhaps , nothing a good service and new filters could put to rights so all is not lost.
Just pays to check things over carefully with a newly acquired boat along with checking the bilge pump works and an bilge alarm is a good idea as well stich in time saves nine as they say.

  4. I like your productions, they are quirky and imaginative. The music and editing are spot on. Not to everyone's liking ngl, I hope you do more, maybe more focused on the boat life with a bit more train driving for fun. Nice one

  5. ….. as you well know …. everything that is worthwhile takes time and effort … you got this, you have the determination and will conquer … as the old saying goes – "it is not the destination, but the journey that makes the person …. did the clicky thingys ….. thx for the share .. as always .. never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our oceans ….

  6. If you can possibly swing it repower the boat with a new diesel engine. Starting with a fresh engine will allow you to know the history and maintenance records going forward then you can focus on the rest of the boats needs

  7. i thought i was watching night of the living dead, waiting for the zombies to crawl from under the floor boards, LOL!. does she have a name?, i would name her elvira LOL!. PEACE.

  8. The more holes a boat have….the .more problems you gett. This was "your 3 boat" so that can only men one thing: You dont pay attention ore you are in a hurry. If you have a mental illness ore a physical illness ore both….you can NOT imagine it will fix it self. Remember: When the boat is THAT OLD….you now its going to be painful. Be well and take care : )

  9. intresting story, I too am looking to buy my dream yacht and it will look soemting like yours, I even like the color in my head is very similar, I really like blue. it will be my first proper yacht, i've only had tiny ones, sub 20ft…useless really. I like your boat very much, I hope you get her going

    /Magnus

  11. I am very confident that this channel has the potentisl to be huge if you want to put in the work. It seems like you might be suffering from what we call the "Golden Handcuffs" in the USA. You have a pretty good job that likely pays well, but you are bored of. I think your video talents are good enough to make a living with if you decide to take the plunge. I am sure that if you can create weekly content of this quality about restoring and sailing your sailboat, your channel will grow quickly!

  12. Hi everyone!! Thank you so much for all your comments and all the interest in this video! I would love to be able to answer all the comments and have conversations with all of you but I’m totally overwhelmed by this at the moment! I could tell you that my boat is a Bacchant IV built in Västerås Sweden. I am working on the next video about me sailing Kattegat alone in the middle of the winter so I hope I see you there and I hope I’ll be able to and find the time to answer some more comments in the future! Much love and have a nice day! ❤⭐️

  13. Why are you doing this ?
    😂😂😂
wouldn't a Land Yacht Van been safer for you ?
    😂😂😂

The FIRST time you take out ANY NEW vessel you do what is called a
    " Shakedown "
That is where you discover all these bad things. And Rule # 1 is to CLOSE all Thru Hulls at first and 1 by 1 open them under way and see if they are in proper shape or not.

Going out in real weather was not a good move BUT you should have at least been below looking for and searching for issues.
    Lesson learned I guess.

    Cheers & Beers & Sail On !

  14. You and I had almost the same situation when buying an old boat. I bought a boat and sailed it 9 nautical miles before the engine overheated and could not be used, so we sailed 140 more miles, just 6 miles shy of my destination. We sailed through two storms with 35 knot winds for three days and we took on lots of water. Then the winds completely died, leaving us stranded off shore, we dropped anchor so we could sleep but the water was too deep (100 meters) so we began to drift out to sea with our anchor dangling below. Suddenly (at 3am) we had a coast guard warning for numerous water spouts in the area, exhausted we called for a tow to the nearest harbor, only 3 kilometers, I could swim that far and leave the boat but Instead I hauled the anchor in by hand, (dead weight), tail between my legs got towed back to shore! I have yet to do the necessary repairs to get the boat back at sea but I am confident that eventually it will all work out, Best to you and all the rest of sailors who simply throw caution to the wind!

  15. Haha love you man! This story is so incredibly HappyGoLucky-Worthy. Well done on the new framing! ✌

Also, only an alien child can look 25 at 35.. And that hair man. Had almost forgot about it. Looks are sooo not important though but geez! You're like a viking god here lol! (you're rocking that new look like no one else though) Looking forward to the next episode!
