I said in an earlier comment that I know that Sbarro was always in food courts at several malls I've been to but, I never recall seeing anyone eat there & I myself have not. Satanic? Demonic? Drug front? Satanic, Demonic drug front? This warrants an investigation & perhaps a video of it's own. Also the oceans are vast and largely unexplored (the surface doesn't count) there most certainly is creatures never before seen under them shits.
Either that or like everything else the sightings and attacks are hidden and covered up. There is something in this world that we will never be able to find out because they won't let us, no matter who is a witness, there will be no witnesses.
Another reason they were no more reports back then because most sailors couldn't write or couldn't read. They were no journals or anything left, unless someone on board was educated.

I was once sailing the ocean blue, and on my journey we came across an atoll. This kraken lived there, he came out of the water(i know it was a he! Trust me! IT WAS A HE! AND A BIG HE AT THAT! This is why I prefer fresh water over the ocean. I love diving. I have been diving in the Red Sea, Caribbean, the Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico, and Pacific. I have seen sharks in all of those locations. As I age, I like clear freshwater lakes and rivers. No sharks there and visibility is better, generally. I do not think we REALLY know what the oceans do or do not hold. New creatures / species are continually being discovered. I try to keep an open mind and say, well maybe there might be creatures we have not seen yet.
Why do we question what those in past experienced? Imagine going back in time and telling earlier man about airplanes and non human robots, earlier man reply: You shall be put to death for such lies

I’ve read a lot of stories about this, there was also a gigantic squid sighting in the North Atlantic after the Second World War, from various officers, & half the crew of an American destroyer, stating it had an eye the size of a restaurant platter, was about as long as the ship, & seemed to be curiously watching them, as it kept pace alongside, then suddenly darted away…there are also numerous tales of a gigantic octopus around the Caribbean, & a washed up “globster” on a Florida beach, that dna tested to be an octopus (but way too big) & stories from Venezuela of tentacles popping out of ocean hole ‘lakes’ even snatching cows (!)…there is also writings of an incident on an ancient Roman dock, where tentacles came out of the water, & tried to snatch several people…I think there is also a German u-boat story, involving watching a shark feeding frenzy, when suddenly the sharks scattered, & a shadow loomed up under the waves, followed by large tentacles wrapping around the sub, but giving up after a while…

100% the old tales of the cracken were true and they were giant squid. That author who doubted it because of the lack of modern day attacks, is overlooking two major facts. Modern engines turning a propeller at crazy high speeds make a horrible screaming sound under the water and to a fish or squid with sensory organs hundreds of times more sensitive than ours. Fact number 2, most of the attacks happened to the smaller boats that were used after the bigger ship had sunk, usually from a horrible storm or rogue wave or whatever. Basically a big rowboat.
