Detaliul distractiv despre povestea noastră este că barca pe care am cumpărat-o se scufunda și se baza pe multe pompe de santină pentru a supraviețui, așa că a trebuit să o ridicăm pe uscat pentru a începe o reparație completă. Odată ce barca a fost ridicată (pentru prima dată în viața ei) ne-am dat seama că munca necesară a fost mult mai mult decât se aștepta. Între eliberarea sau acceptarea provocării, am decis să alegem a doua variantă. Perhaps through bolts on the lock instead of screws, That would be more secure.
I have mentioned this before. You have to dip your screws in sealant. Right now I see your rebuilt boat lasting 5 years with all the water coming in. Properly sealed, the cleanup is longer than the fitting…there's sealant coming out of everwhere. Old man taught me, so I pass it on. Anything I did never had water come in. My 1st boat had a wooden mast. I had to rebuild it as I did not redo the mast track.

Too late I know. Tensioning belts and their pumps and alternators is best done with turnbuckles.

Put tape around the area you dont want the sikaflex then pull the tape off before it dries.

Lug Nut…hahaha… Ben I credit you with you ability to speak multiple languages but I also love watching you struggle with terms at times!!!! You're great… It has been a pleasure watching you transition into a pretty darn good little craftsman over the past couple years or so… In the start I was worried 🙂but you never quit and I admire your knowledge these days!!!!
I've been following your journey from the beginning and can't believe how incredible Yaba is looking. I have loved almost all of the things you have done but this week not so much. And maybe there is a reason why you are doing what you are. I'm not a big fan of using the threaded rods to install the cleats. You have beautiful stainless-steel cleats that should be installed using some type of stainless bolt such as a carriage bolt. It would have kept the look of the cleats much cleaner. Just my opinion but keep up the good work and I can't wait to see her finished.
Use baby wipes to wipe off any excess sika flex or silicone while its still wet. My top tip of the day 👍
MP & Ben, another supper episode, after some 2.5 years, give or take; Yaba will be launched and after the tremendously hard work your team and yourself have put into her, she'll be all you have hoped for. Awe inspiring, the changes you have created with both your ingenuity and hand labor resurrecting Yaba. You guys ROCK!
Going to suggest putting the alternator on the side that water is not going to drop on it.
Should the front hatch be waterproof in case some water comes over the bow?

Sika flex, I find it easier to clean up when wet. Using mineral turps & heaps of rags. A specialy around fittings. SV Kiwi Lady Opua Bay of islands New Zealand 😆👍🏿
The hinges are insufficient for that hatch. The hole in the gunwale is insufficient for the rope on the cleat; you are transferring the load to the timber.
So amazing, hinges on a hatch lid and bolting down a cleat.
