hmmm… interior construction pretty similar to a production boat. They just use the templates once and maybe fancier wood. It is going to be a beautiful boat.
Love your channel, but we prefer balanced mouthfuls, three times every day.
I'm interested in seeing the new and improved systems, including the hybrid and regen power systems, off-grid electrical systems, etc on all the new boats being built on various sailing channels. It will be informative and educational to see which systems perform as spec'd and which components hold up and which ones break down on a new build.
Your channel is one of my favorites, I recommend it to all my friends.

I'm planning on having a Mumby Cyber 48 or 50 built for me and have been looking at electric propulsion. From what I've gathered, the only regen that actually works is the Ocean Volt. The one that Sailing Uma has. Regen is the main reason that I would want one. I prefer going with a shaft driven motor because maintenance is much easier, clearance and because I can beach the catamaran if I wanted to. Since weight is a determent on a catamaran, I wouldn't want a genset. Other issues are the need to have many solar panels and batteries in order to have enough stored up energy to power your boat for more than two hours as Sailing UMA has stated that they have for there boat. I'd love to go with all electric but don't think it's there yet. That's why I'll be going with the Yanmar diesel engines as a result. I believe that Tim Mumby installs the Yanmar 29 as a standard option and so that's what I'll be getting. I'll need one for each hull. It would be nice if they made a small energy free generator to power electric engines so that you wouldn't have to have that many solar panels and batteries but that's not available just yet. It would be awesome if I could be the first person to transit the globe on a fully electric boat. If I did go electric than I would have to pick my weather windows correctly so that I always have wind in my sails. The only time that I'd need my engines turned on would be entering and leaving an anchorage. That's a very tall order to be able to do.

At least you will know that everything inside your new boat will fit through the main door to your pilot house compared to boats built with the inside done before the deck is fitted. Makes it a lot easier to remove things and replace if necessary. Very practical. Thanks for the video.

Not a big fan of the sprayfoam, looks like tough when repair / maintenance is needed. Would have loved to see a combination of sound and vibration damping tape and aerogel panels for insulation. The vibration tape is great on metal surfaces and the aerogel panels are fireproof moisture resistant and amazing sound / heat insulators
I would love to hear the downsides of hybrid electric. They sound great, but obviously there must be compelling downsides. Is it cost? Complexity? Multiple points of failure?
I am not in a position to buy a new boat, but if I was I would look seriously at hybrid, but would want to know the nitty gritty on the downsides too.

If electric drives are so great why is there even a diesel motor in the boat… electric drives will deplete the batteries 10 times faster, lith batteries are not cheap… I have a very hard time believing people fall for this hype… Its your money, spent it the way you want…
Whilst in process of designing our new boat we are obviously following the latest fenders like you do, but the prices are like crazy….1,000 us for 1 large fender… times 6 or more…for a boat. light weight has its price….
Curious about your idea about how many KW your electric engine needs to be, in relation to what you would do in HP. do you agree with the formula that 100 kw is est similar to 350 HP?
