  1. Well, your white washed wall didn't impress me last show but now that you have sanded it down, it looks great 😉 so you will paint it…. Ah well, I am sure it will look good painted too. Normally I would find it not worth while commenting on as my taste in interior design is more along the "just get it done" style. really, you are the two who have to live with it. You two can actually see what it looks like, not what the camera shows. Do what you like and just tell us it looks great. we are all naive and believing anyway 😉 As for original build quality…. the boat was not built by people who were going to live on it…. you are going to live on it and so you might build a bit differently. A Gallon is 10 pounds of water…. a US gallon is after taxes…

  2. The more tabbing on ribs stringers and joists to the hull you do will stiffen the whole boat longditudingly so you can tension up the rig correctly and not bend the boat. Stu, if you are going to use that pump for fresh water to shower, toilet and galley it needs to be 45psi or more at about 11 litres per minute. That 30psi pump will only give you a dribble.

  3. Thank the Pope you are going to paint the boat properly. I was beginning to think you guys were drinking bad beer and wine. Now I csn settle back snd enjoy the build again. Ken Australia 🇦🇺

  4. The shabby sheek looked really cool just before you gunna pain 😂
It'll look good when it's all white including the ceiling aye, use a normal house fridge, so easy to replace when they die

  5. Expanding wood glue is what you need for the joists to fill the gaps, it will also stop the wood squeaking too when you lay the floor, you can also put a bead along the top of the ribs when you do the final floor lay again to stop it squeaking.

  6. Expensive but a lot of advantages – Eutectic fridge / freezer – when cold they last for days – can boost with excess solar or when running the diesel – I used these in the aussie outback and once cold they would last 7-10 days without power – size of cold plate is important a little bigger is better – but hopefully a watcher will know more – maybe see if you could make your own tank and then just use the danfoss BD35 or BD 50 ??compressor to cool / freeze – maybe even salvage one from a dometic portable freezer etc – also use good thick waterproof closed foam insulation

  7. Hey, nice project. Your sandpaper looks like 120 grid wood sandpaper. For sending varnish this is way too rough and not the right type anyway. At least the grid should be 240, otherwise it will leave marks in the surface which will be visible even under white paint.

  8. Try a little Bleach on the discolored wood before sanding. Started with a diluted mix (50-50 water & bleach). Change ratio if needed. You might be able to salvage some of it.

Also, they make a very thin viscosity epoxy that can be used on wood that has "seen better days". It soaks into the wood fibers and basically makes the loose wood fibers act like the fiberglass cloth. I believe it's mainly used to make surf boards. It is also what should be used on the balsa wood as balsa wood is very porous and needs thin viscosity..

  9. Making great progress! If you're sanding off the varnish on the wall panels try starting with a more aggressive grit will help get it off without gumming up the disks, I've found that to work well.
Yes, paint the panels white so it'll be brighter but not the louvered doors please ❤.
I hope you plan to seal all the "Ribs" with epoxy, totally glassing them in would give extra strength and assure they won't rot as well as easier to clean the bilge in the future.

  10. It was worth a try lime washing the walls but I think that it’s the right choice to go straight white. Very difficult to achieve lime wash over existing varnish. It will feel a lot less claustrophobic in the vee birth with light and airy white walls. Then Marina can dress the room to add colour and style. Go well guys. Your living space is beginning to look like a nice place to be.

  11. Amazing how many people incorrectly assume America uses imperial units of measure. The UK does, so the gallon there is 160 ounces, but the US uses Customary units and their gallon is 128 ounces. Well done to Stu on recognizing that difference on the fresh water pump.
