Suntem în Panama și mai precis în Insulele San Blas. Suntem aici de 3 săptămâni și ne cunoaștem barca cu pânze. A fost plin de oameni grozavi, plaje frumoase, mâncăruri noi și aventură fără limite. Suntem tristi sa ne luam la revedere, dar se pare ca aceasta viata de navigatie ne impinge constant in directii la care nu ne asteptam. Vedeți, Katy și cu mine am avut recent o conversație care merge în cerc fără concluzie. Până acum. Planul nostru inițial a fost să ne stabilim în Boundless cu această croazieră shakedown, și apoi să continuăm navigarea spre est, apoi spre nord, înapoi în Bahamas și pe coasta de est a Statelor Unite pentru sezonul uraganelor. Ceea ce ne-am dat seama rapid este că este FOARTE greu să navighezi departe de Panama, odată ce te afli în Panama. Marea Caraibelor este notoriu de agitată, iar toate modelele meteorologice predominante sunt împotriva ta. Așadar, așa cum spunem întotdeauna, „nu avem niciun plan și ne ținem mereu de el”. După ce am consultat toate cărțile noastre de traseu meteo, am decis să mergem cu fluxul și să ne îndreptăm spre vest, peste Canalul Panama și în Oceanul Pacific. Săptămâna aceasta vă luăm cu noi pentru 2 zile de navigație frumoasă spre vest, departe de San Blas și înapoi la Linton Bay, unde vom aborda câteva proiecte, apoi vom naviga înapoi la Shelter Bay Marina, unde ne vom pregăti pentru aventura care urmează. What I appreciate with your videos Parker is that you have approached this whole project with a high level of planning, professionalism and competence. Unlike some sailing channels like Mereweather and Atticas who seem like they just bumble along and aren’t competent boat fixers nor sailors. Keep up the good work

It was great to see you drop the boarding ladder before you jumped in. Many have died due to that failure.
The boom vang should be able to overcome the rigid boom support. It is spring loaded, so should allow tightening to bring the boom lower, or on the other hand, allow the boom to rise as needed.
Hi Parker and Katy how come you aren't using your Monitor? You definitely want to be familiar with it and work out any kinks before a major passage. Rest assured that your autopilot will fail so the less you use it and need it the better. Beautiful boat with lots of high end finishes, hard lifelines all the way around wow! You found a great boat. I don't remember telling you that your tiny radar reflectors are simply useless. You need a big rectangular one or even better the active type. Happy sailing!
I use the boom vang, the outhaul and the halyard to trim the main. That way it keeps its shape independent of the main sheet tension and the traveller is only used to move the boom to the right angle to the wind.

Great video guys! So glad we met you and got to spend some time together in the San Blas. We wish we could buddy boat to Mexico with you but its not in the cards. One comment….I find sailing down wind I don't get the telltales on the main leech to stream like when sailing upwind. Off the wind the pressure is mostly on one side of the sail whereas upwind you use the sail like an airplane wing and develop lift, so you have wind on both sides of the sail and the telltales stream back. We hope you are having fun on The Pacific.
