În timp ce face ultimele retușuri la reparațiile din fibră de sticlă a bărcilor noastre, Roxy își ia camera și ne oferă o vedere a câinilor cu „Roxy Cam” într-o plimbare prin portul de agrement și râul din Itajai. Avem o șansă rară să bifăm un articol din listă, turneele cu motociclete în America de Sud! Noii noștri prieteni din Itaji ne împrumută o bicicletă de turism BMW GS1200 pentru a merge pe drumurile din sudul Braziliei. Este uimitor. Apoi aflăm despre Guineea și Geckos în Airbnb. Trezirea cu o cafea într-un loc nou în timp ce călătoriți este întotdeauna o aventură. Kate se tunde și ea, uită-te la transformare. Ne-am cunoscut în timp ce navigam într-o regata Melges 24 și de atunci navigăm împreună. Prima dată când am mers în croazieră împreună ca un cuplu, a fost pe un prieteni împrumutat J Boats J 105 în Canalul de Nord al Lacului Huron și Canada (parte a Marii Buclei). Aceste câteva săptămâni și vizionarea altor canale precum Gone With the Wynns, Sailing Uma, Project Atticus, Delos, Nahoa și Sailing La Vagabonde, ne-au convins că viața de navigație era pentru noi. Ne-am cumpărat barca, un J Boats J/46, în 2019, după ce am petrecut ani de zile căutând barca cu pânze perfectă pentru a naviga în jurul lumii. Ne-au interesat un catamaran și monococa, dar ne-a plăcut designul de croazieră performant al lui J (este mai rapid decât majoritatea catamaranelor de croazieră). Am petrecut șase luni reamenajând-o în Rhode Island, înainte să ne vindem casa și mașinile, să renunțăm la locurile de muncă și să părăsim definitiv viața pe uscat pentru a deveni nomazi digitali, cu scopul de a naviga în jurul lumii prin Capul Horn. De atunci, am navigat împreună peste 12.000 de mile, prin furtuni, valuri mari, pandemii și blocaje. Am navigat spre Maine, Bahamas, Caraibe, Grenada, Sint Maarten, Azore, Insulele Canare și Brazilia, în drum spre sud, spre Uruguay, Argentina și Chile, pentru a naviga în jurul Capului Horn și în fiordurile Patagoniei.

Well that was a variety packed episode!
You had beautiful conditions for your introduction to motorcycling, and again benefited from the friendship and kindness of so many people. Of course sharing food with strangers and learning about their connection to dishes is always a great way to make friends.

Curious fact: the blue sphere on the Brazilian flag is based on an armillary sphere, a sailing device that was on the old Imperial Brazilian flag, coming from the flag of Portugal for obvious reasons ( how important sailing was on Portugal history)
The stars are real stars in the Southern Hemisphere over the sky of Rio de Janeiro on the day of independence, but seen from outside (like the armillary sphere)

I see Captain Rick Moore of sailing sophisticated Lady was sent a waterproof drone, That would be the only type I would want on the water as it gives you quite a few second chances at recovery.
So sad about loosing the drone. It is maybe the #10 I've seen in YouTube. Have you ever thought about tying just a birtday balloon so it can float in case goes down?

Wow lots of stuff in this episode. I don't know what to comment on first… Well first of all I've got to say I hate losing a drone. The Splash Drone is a little more expensive, and bright red, but the cool thing is they are pretty much waterproof and don't sink when they fall out of the sky over water. An additional alternative to DJI, which I myself have gone this other route, I buy cheap like $50-$120 drones. There a lots of pretty decent "No name" drones out there that even support 4k at times. Don't expect much from them, but hey they are not a $900 loss, but you will continue to lose drones no matter what. I don't know anyone that uses them that hasn't lost at least one quite frankly. Anyway that is my two cents about drones. The Roxy cam was neat, and even my kitty watched it for all of two seconds(Really don't expect much from a lazy feline audience). The camera on the dog adds a little bit of flair from a little closer to the ground!!! Its too bad you two can't have a light motorcycle, e-bikes, or maybe two folding bikes. Maybe you do and I don't remember, but we have two folding bikes (Zizzo Via's)we take with us on the Catalina. Plus an electric Swagtron scooter. We'd love ebikes, but the laws where we sail the boat out of pretty much say no to anything but an actual bicycle. That's Charleston SC mind you, they kicked out all the ebike and scooter rentals. I noticed the grounding strap you two had to work with. It is pretty beefy, and you two aren't hanging out in Florida or Panama…so…it isn't as super important right now. Nigel Calder says to use at least a #6 braided copper to a grounding point from all avenues that might bring down electricity from the mast. The braiding increases the momentary carrying capacity from a lightning strike as it increases the conductors surface area. I have no idea how your J is set up, but I thought I'd pass that along. I still haven't done anything with my boat as a tree, blown apart from a lightning strike, sliced through one of my rental properties like a hot knife through butter! So much for my launch plans….

Funny how many guys are commenting on the new hairdo, I’ll add mine. It’s cute, a younger look! Sorry about the drone but it seems to be pretty standard, most channels have lost multiple units. Curtis did a great job on the repairs please don’t bump into any more whales. I’ll stick with my rudder well protected by the full keel. Brazil looks like a blast I’m sure you were sad to leave. Thanks for another great video. When was the last time you calibrated the drone?
I know it was probably a freak strike, but what if you rounded off that top corner of the rudder to a 2 or 3 inch radius to prevent that sharp corner from puncturing the hull again should another strike occur?
